Nicknamed the “Bass
Capital of the World." Cape Fair is a small, quaint community straddling
the banks of the James River Arm of Table Rock Lake. It is home to people
who love the special lifestyle offered in Ozark Mountain Country. With
four distinct seasons, Cape Fair is a quiet and serene area, accenting the
lake with its steep bluffs, rocky points, many coves, and unbelievable
sunsets, we know you will fall in love with the area.
Spring comes alive with the blossoming dogwoods and redbud trees, and the mid-April bass spawn making for championship fishing. After the lush green summer months, the hillsides are ablaze with the brilliant colors of fall. In the winter, there is the occasional white blanket of snow that doesn’t last very long and you are sure to see the great bald eagles soaring above. The Cape Fair area has one of the largest concentrations of bald eagles during the winter in the country.
With favorable year-round
fishing conditions, Table R
ock
Lake is recognized as one of the top bass fishing lakes in the nation.
Early spring and late fall are the best times to tr
y
for lunker bass, while night fishing for largemouth bass is particularly
good in July and August. Spring is excellent for catching dinner-plate
sized crappie and summer produces buckets of sunfish and huge catfish.
March is the season for spoonbills and Cape Fair holds the state record
for the largest spoonbill, weighing in at 139.25 pounds in March of 2002.
